Receiving “ORA-01078: failure in processing system parameters” error while starting database on 11gR2 ASM non-RAC environment

Receiving below error while starting up the database in 11gR2 ASM non-RAC environment:

“ORA-01078: failure in processing system parameters
ORA-01565: error in identifying file ‘+DATA/orcl/spfileorcl.ora’
ORA-17503: ksfdopn:2 Failed to open file +DATA/orcl/spfileorcl.ora
ORA-29701: unable to connect to Cluster Synchronization Service”

To fix this issue, I started the ASM instance and database using SRVCTL command:

$ srvctl start asm
$ srvctl start database -d databasename

E.g:

$ srvctl start asm
$ srvctl start database -d orcl

How to get port number list of Enterprise manager in Oracle 11g?

To determine the port number, check the portlist.ini file. Ports for some oracle database applications are listed in the portlist.ini file, it can be located in the $ORACLE_HOME/install directory

Receiving error “ping: unknown host “

I was trying to ping google.com on my linux test box and was receiving the

ping: unknown host http://www.google.com

I was able to ping the ip address, so I started troubleshooting looking for hostname, ip address, resolv.conf. I found that DNS was wrong and changed the nameserver ip address in /etc/resolv.conf to fix the issue.

To find solaris patch installed or not

To determine which patches are already installed on your Solaris system, use the shell command “showrev”:

showrev -p

This gives the list of solaris patch installed on your solaris server and to find the particular patch installed, please run the below:

showrev -p | grep <patch number>

Eg: showrev -p | grep 119213

Receiving “Internal Error has occurred. Check the log file for details” while accessing Oracle 11g Enterprise Manage DBConsole

The error occurs because the URL accessed is not correct one. In general the format would look like following:

http://hostname:port/em/console
https://hostname:port/em/console

Usually this URL always generates this error. The URL that should be used is:-

http://hostname:port/em
or
https://hostname:port/em

 Note that there is no ‘/console’ at the end.

No EJBs found in the ejb-jar file ‘MyApplication.jar’. Please ensure the ejb-jar contains EJB declarations via an ejb-jar.xml deployment descriptor or at least one class annotated with the @Stateless, @Stateful or @MessageDriven EJB annotation

I was deploying ear file in weblogic and was receiving the below error:

“Failed to initialize the application ‘myapplication’ due to error weblogic.application.ModuleException: Exception preparing module: EJBModule(myapplicationEJB.jar) [EJB:011023]An error occurred while reading the deployment descriptor. The error was: No EJBs found in the ejb-jar file ‘myapplicationEJB.jar’. Please ensure the ejb-jar contains EJB declarations via an ejb-jar.xml deployment descriptor or at least one class annotated with the @Stateless, @Stateful or @MessageDriven EJB annotation… weblogic.application.ModuleException: Exception preparing module: EJBModule(myapplicationEJB.jar) [EJB:011023]An error occurred while reading the deployment descriptor. Please ensure the ejb-jar contains EJB declarations via an ejb-jar.xml deployment descriptor or at least one class annotated with the @Stateless, @Stateful or @MessageDriven EJB annotation..”

On researching, I found that I hadn’t set “setWLSEnv.cmd” (windows) or “setWLSEnv.sh” (linux) before starting weblogic and this made it not to recognize @Stateless annotation and throw above error. I set the “setWLSEnv.cmd” and started the weblogic application and redeployed the jar file successfully.
